Sober living apartments in the heart of downtown San Diego

619 Recovery is a sober living operator in downtown San Diego, California, founded to provide safe, structured housing for men and women in early addiction recovery. Our mission is to bridge the gap between inpatient treatment and independent living through community, accountability, and access to San Diego's recovery ecosystem.

Our Mission

619 Recovery provides structured, supportive sober living apartments in downtown San Diego for individuals transitioning from treatment, incarceration, or active addiction into independent, sober lives. We believe that recovery happens best in a community — surrounded by peers who understand the journey and staff who have walked it themselves.

Our mission is to offer safe, affordable, and drug-free housing that empowers residents to rebuild their lives with dignity. Every resident at 619 Recovery receives the structure, accountability, and peer support needed to sustain long-term sobriety.

What Makes 619 Recovery Different

Location in the Heart of San Diego: Our apartments are located at 501 7th Avenue in downtown San Diego, walking distance to public transit, employment opportunities, 12-step meetings, outpatient treatment centers, and the vibrant recovery community of East Village and the Gaslamp Quarter.

Structured Accountability: Residents follow house rules that include curfews, mandatory meeting attendance, random drug testing, and chore rotations. This structure is not punitive — it is the framework that supports early recovery when willpower alone is not enough.

Peer-Driven Community: We intentionally keep our community small to foster genuine relationships. Residents support each other through shared meals, group activities, and the daily rhythms of sober life. Many of our strongest alumni connections started right here.

Affordable Housing: We keep our rates accessible because cost should never be a barrier to recovery. Our sober living apartments are competitively priced for the downtown San Diego area, and we work with residents on payment plans when needed.

Our Approach to Recovery

619 Recovery operates as a Level II sober living residence, following the standards set by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (evidence-based). Our program includes:

  • Weekly house meetings where residents check in, set goals, and hold each other accountable
  • Required 12-step or equivalent meeting attendance — we support AA, NA, SMART Recovery, and Refuge Recovery
  • Random drug and alcohol testing to maintain a safe, substance-free environment
  • Connection to local resources including outpatient treatment, job placement services, and mental health support through San Diego County Behavioral Health Services
  • Dual diagnosis support for residents managing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

We are not a treatment facility — we are a recovery residence. Our role is to provide the stable housing, community, and accountability that bridges the gap between treatment and fully independent living. For those seeking treatment resources, we recommend the SAMHSA Treatment Locator or the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357.
