How to Move Into 619 Recovery
A clear, four-step intake process. Most residents go from first call to move-in within 24 to 72 hours. No long forms, no admissions team in a different state — you talk to people who actually live and work in the building.
The intake process, in four steps
Phone inquiry
You (or a family member, sponsor, or treatment center case manager) call (619) 431-4217. We pick up around the clock. The first call is short — we take basic info, hear what you’re looking at, and answer initial questions about pricing, openings, and fit.
Phone screening for fit
If 619 Recovery looks like a possible fit, we do a 15- to 20-minute screening call. We ask about substance use history, current sobriety, mental health, working/school plans, family situation, and timeline. The goal is to make sure 619 Recovery is the right environment for you and that you’re the right fit for the house. Honest answers serve you here — we’d rather refer you elsewhere than place a bad fit.
In-person tour
We walk you through the building — common areas, a typical room, the neighborhood right outside the door. You meet a current resident or two if they’re around. You ask everything: rules, drug screening, curfew, what happens if X. We answer directly. If you’re out of state, we do a video walkthrough and the in-person walk happens on move-in day.
Move-in
Once you’ve confirmed and we’ve confirmed an opening, we lock in a move-in date. Move-in day includes a quick orientation (rules, schedule, drug screen), a meet-and-greet with the house, and getting your room set up. Most people are settled within a few hours.
Eligibility
619 Recovery is built for a specific population. The clearest fit:
- Age 18 to 35 (we do consider mid-30s and up case-by-case)
- Currently sober (typically 5+ days clean from substances)
- Coming from residential rehab, IOP, halfway house, or directly from active recovery
- Willing to attend daily meetings, follow curfew, and submit to random drug screening
- Working, in school, or actively seeking either within 30 days of move-in
- Able to pay rent monthly through direct pay, family contribution, or scholarship arrangement
Cases we typically refer out: active medical detox needs, untreated severe mental illness requiring in-patient psychiatric care, court-mandated stays we can’t accommodate, and residents under 18.
What to bring on move-in day
- Government-issued ID — driver’s license, state ID, or passport
- First month’s rent via the payment method discussed on the screening call
- Bedding for a twin XL or double bed (we will confirm size at tour). Pillows, sheets, blanket.
- Toiletries — rooms come with basic bathroom, you bring personal items
- Clothes for at least 7 to 10 days; laundry on-site
- Phone charger, laptop if you have one, headphones
- List of meds in original prescription bottles — we secure-store any medications used in recovery (Suboxone, Vivitrol, antidepressants, etc.) per house protocol
- Optional but useful: a sober contact list, a journal, a meeting schedule from your last program
What NOT to bring: alcohol, any non-prescribed substances, weapons, or anything that violates the house agreement (you’ll get a copy at screening). Excessive belongings — rooms are not large; pack like a college dorm, not a house move.
